Welcome to The Sussex Wine Company’s Blog: ‘Sussex in the Cellar’. After spending a considerable amount of time living, breathing and tasting wine, along with some good food thrown in, we thought it was a good idea to share some of this info.
The Sussex Wine Company is an independent online wine merchant, based in East Sussex. It was founded on a few basic but fundamental principals:
- Value for money at all price points,
- A personalised service tailored to the need of the individual.
- Promoting smaller, boutique wineries from around the world.
- Absolute passion and belief in our products!
Having been involved within the wine trade for 10 years we noticed that prices went up, quality went down and branding grew stronger. We had begun to question the techniques used to create mass market cheap wines found in the multiple retailers that often involve mass chemical use.
We concentrate on listing quality wine and spirits from around the world, all produced with attention to detail both in the vineyard and the winery, at realistic prices. Mass production and forcing prices down in order that we only pay the barest minimum per bottle will do more to damage our choices of quality wine, and the industry as a whole by putting the smaller quality producers out of business.
